Tour Orissa, India Travel Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive Delhi Meet and greet at the airport by Carmel representative and transfer to hotel. overnight at the hotel.
Day 02:
Delhi/Bhubaneshwar (flight) Morning transfer to airport for flight to
Bhubaneswar. On arrival meet and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit the
Lingaraj Temple of Shiva built in the 11th century, it is also the
biggest in Bhubaneswar. Later visit nearby ancient caves of Khandagiri
and Udaygiri which were carved and tunneled, to create this
multi-storied ancient apartment residence for Jain monks. They were the
work of the first known Orissan ruler, King Kharavela, and probably
begun in the first century BC. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Bhubaneswar –
Ratnagiri – Udayagiri – Dhenkanal – Joranda After breakfast depart for
Dhenkanal en-route visit the Diamond Triangle of Odisha. These three
hills and their environs comprise a remarkable Buddhist complex.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Dhenkanal –
Nuapatna – Sadeibarani – Dhenkanal After breakfast, excursion to visit
of Sadeibarni – Dokra crafts village – The Dhokra casting, a variety of
metal casting is essentially a folk craft and is limited to a few
pockets of Orissa. In Sadeiberni, in Dhenkanal district, it is being
practiced by an aboriginal caste called sithulias. Also visit Nuapatna
weaving village and Joranda Temploe. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: Dhenkanal –
Pippli – Puri ( 175 Kms/04 hrs) After breakfast, drive to Puri, en-route
visiting Pipli and Raghurajpur crafts village. Pipli is a centre for
appliqué work, which depict the essence of Oriya culture. It is also
known for colourful and original awnings, canopies, garden and beach
umbrellas, shoulder and handbags etc. Also visit Raghurajpur Village. On
arrival check into the hotel. Later visit Jagannath Temple. (Non Hindus
are not allowed inside the temple. To be viewed from a library
platform) Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Puri – Konarak –
Puri After breakfast visit of famous Sun Temple at Konarak- The third
link in the Orissan Golden Triangle, Konark is the site of one of the
most spectacular examples of religious architecture in the world. The
Sun Temple at Konark conceived as a massive chariot hauling the Sun God
across the heavens by the might of seven splendidly carved horses,
standing aloft on 24 chariot wheels-intricately carved – symbolizing the
march of time, lies in solitary splendor surrounded by drifting sand
three kilometers from the sea. Thereafter visit to the Fisherman’s
villages. Return to hotel for overnight.
Day 08: Puri – Gopalpur
on sea Breakfast at Hotel and leave for Gopalpur on sea en-route
visiting typical Orissan villages, local temple and Mangalajodi village
to see the birds. On arrival check into the hotel. Overnight at the
hotel.
Day 09: Gopaplpur on sea –
Taptapani (65 kms. 1.5 Hrs) After breakfast, drive to Taptapani,
en-route visiting traditional villages. The bubbling hot spring of
Taptapani lies deep in the forests and high on a hill around 50 km from
Berhampur. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Taptapani –
Chandragiri After breakfast, drive to Chandragiri to see the Tibetan
settlement, Jirang Monastery and local Adivasi villages. Return to hotel
for overnight.
Day 11: Taptapani-
Rayagada ( 170 Kms/05hrs) After breakfast drive to Rayagada en-route
visiting Saora Tribe and villages The Saora tribes are mostly
concentrated in Ganjam district of the State. The whole area is an
intricate labyrinth of precipitous hills and valleys which are part of
the Eastern Ghat-the height of the hills varying from 2000 to 4000 sqft
above sea level. On arrival check into the hotel. Overnight at the
hotel.
Day 12:
Rayagada -Jeypore ( 210 Kms/05 hrs) (Tuesday Tribal Market) After
breakfast, proceed to Bonda Tribal, Jeypore via Majhiguda to witness the
interesting & colourful weekly market of the Dongaria kondh tribes.
(Tuesday) This day the interesting ornamental Tribes come down from
their mountain will known as Niayamgiri hill range. This is a unique
opportunity to witness them before they come and mix with other
community in the market. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13: Jeypore
(Wednesday Tribal Market) After breakfast visit of Nandapur area to see
the Wednesday tribal market of Gadabba tribes. Both men and women tie
their long hairs with linseed oil and decorate it with forestry flowers
and different ornaments. The women wear a long strip of cloth tied
around the waist and a second piece of cloth is worn across the breasts
and tied over one shoulder. Gadabas are renowned for their tribal dance
known as ‘Dhimsa’. It is performed by the women of the Dongaria Kondh
Tribes, Jeypore Dongaria Kondh Tribes, Jeypore tribe who wear the famous
karenga saree. This colourful dance is mesmerising in the way it starts
off with bare footed swaying movements into a synchronised circular
dance that peaks with astounding fervour as the performance gives
expression to their inner feelings, joys, affection, passion and their
appreciation of beauty in nature. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 14: Jeypore (Thursday
Tribal Market) After early breakfast, proceed to Onukundelli with
PACKED LUNCH – 45 km to witness the most primitive, interesting &
unique tribal weekly market of the Bonda tribes. Afternoon proceed to
Lamtaput area to explore another primitive tribal community of the
Gadabbas. The women wear a long strip of cloth tied around the waist and
a second piece of cloth is worn across the breasts and tied over one
shoulder. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 15: Jeypore –
Kunduli- Vishakpatnam ( 255 Kms/05 ½ hrs) After breakfast visit another
interesting Paraja tribe assembles at Kunduli every Friday. The Parajas
are divided into different sub-groups viz., Sodia, Jadia and Parenga;
each of them seems to be a separate ethnic group. Continue drive to
Vishakapatnam. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 16: Vishakhapatnam –
Mumbai/out (Flight) Morning after breakfast transfer to airport for
flight to Mumbai. On arrival transfer to airport for flight back home.
